Canutillo ISD welcomes new nurse coordinator

Canutillo ISD welcomes new nurse coordinator

This school year, a familiar face will be taking on a new role. Jennifer Carrera, the former nurse at Alderete Middle School, has been appointed as the nurse coordinator for the Canutillo Independent School District.

Carrera brings a wealth of experience and a deep understanding of the school community to her new position, where she will oversee the District's nursing staff and health programs, ensuring high standards of care and promoting a healthy school environment. In her previous role, she was known for her commitment to student health and well-being, providing essential medical care and health education.

Carrera is a Texas Tech University graduate and a registered nurse. During her tenure as a critical care (ICU) nurse, she fought fiercely for those affected by the global pandemic, COVID-19. She was awarded Nurse of the Year in 2021, for her service as charge RN in the ICU, an achievement that not only represents her nursing aptitude but also her passion and devotion to those she cared for.

“I take great pride in serving the border town El Paso community,” Carrera said. “I am honored to serve as the new nurse coordinator for the Canutillo Independent School District where I will lead with compassion and integrity for my peers, students and parents.”
